Meet Terry McKendree
Originally a native of Northwestern Pennsylvania, owner and operator Terry McKendree has lived in the North Country for more than 40 years. Terry graduated from SUNY Canton and served the Potsdam Police Department for 25 years retiring as Chief of Police. Upon retirement in 2003, Terry became interested in the art of chainsaw carving after viewing various demonstrations.
A self-taught carver, Terry developed his own unique style and started the business. He specializes in “one of a kind” carvings of all sizes, including wildlife, domestic animals and people. Specialties include carvings of bears and dogs. Most carvings are made from white pine logs obtained from local sawmills or woodlots and are created almost entirely with a chainsaw. Other tools used include grinders, sanders and torches.
